About
My name is Jacinta, I am a certified Substitute Teacher for the state of Arizona. I have 10 plus years experience in the above mentioned position as well as a Lead Teacher and Special Education Teacher. English is my first language and I am an avid reader. I want to tutor you in English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading, Handwriting, and Proof Reading. These are core learning concepts that will take you far in whatever your educational goals and endeavors are. My service is tutoring, but my desire is to make you more confident and provide a positive learning experience.
I am excited about helping students achieve their goals academically and furthering their education. It is my desire to aid as a Tutor in assisting students with English courses specifically. I am passionate about teaching and impacting my students in a positive, supportive, and encouraging manner.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Introduce myself and allow them to introduce themselves and tell me something interesting about themselves. Get to know the student first. Find out what their strengths and weaknesses are and what areas they would like to improve on. Find out what learning techniques works best for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm certified as a Substitute Teacher for the state of Arizona.
I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology.
I have tutored students in a variety of lessons for grades k-12 over 10+ years.
How did you get started teaching?
When my oldest daughter was one year old I decided to place her in daycare. I was still wanting to teach her and keep a close eye on her so I started working for the same daycare. In a very short time I excelled at my job and was made a Lead Teacher. As my daughter grew so did my desire to stay in the teaching arena. She is now a teenager and my life of teaching and learning has stayed consistent.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all grade levels k-12. I have worked with special needs students. I have worked with illiterate adults. I have worked with a diverse community of students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I traveled to West Africa for the second time this year.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you are comfortable with your teacher and don't feel embarrassed to ask questions.
