Julianne's Math Tutoring
About
I have spent many years loving and pursuing mathematics. I have a B.S. degree in Mathematics with a minor in statistics. I have been tutoring before I graduated high school but started making business cards and working on my own as a side business.
Being a tutor is something I enjoy tremendously and there is nothing more important to me than a student understanding and enjoying the mathematics once the lessons are over.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to start off by getting to know the students personally, and then seeing where they are in their curriculum for that particular age/class. It's important to me for us to go over the previous material and make sure the student has a good grasp of that before moving on. Mathematics builds on itself tremendously and I want to make sure all bases are covered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with my B.S. in Mathematics and minor in Statistics. I focused mainly on theoretical mathematics, proof based mathematics, and I even have a bit of knowledge in computer coding.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
It really varies depending on the time it takes me to make the lesson plans and how well engaged the student is in helping me to know the problem areas they have. If we can both communicate well and work together to make sure the lesson plans are followed and the homework is done and understood, that will determine what price I charge.
How did you get started teaching?
I started doing tutoring in 11th grade for my friends struggling in the same math courses as me. Then, once I started college in 2016, I made my own business cards and began tutoring family friends and people on facebook who would recommend me to others.
I now work for a tutoring company, Clark's Tutoring. I've been with him for around 3 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from 2nd grade all the way to differential equations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
One of my geometry students was struggling a lot with his material for his upcoming final. So, I spent 2 hours straight with him quizzing and practicing, and we made a study guide together. After he got out of the exam, he was smiling from ear to ear, and had made an 83; the highest score he had received for the entire semester.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the tutor fits well with you. Get to know them personally a bit first so that you know you are/aren't comfortable with them, and they focus on the topics and adapt to your learning style. There's no one way to tutor or learn mathematics - it's unique for every student.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be sure to have an understanding of what your main problem areas are. Is it the way your teacher is already teaching? Is it just them going too quickly?
Do you have issues memorizing equations? Is it the big picture or small details that are confusing you most? ETC.
