We are a volunteer literacy council that teaches basic reading, math and English as a Second Language classes, free of charge to the student. We also teach health and computer literacy, life skills and work successfully with student with learning disabilities and difficulties.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Since we typically work one-on-one with each student, we are are to assess a student's goals and tailor the educational plan to the student's abilities and needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All our volunteers are trained in adult education.

Our classes are all free.
How did you get started teaching?
With a current illiteracy rate of 23% in Arkansas, our organization has been working since 1987 to help adults gain skills for better jobs and better quality of life.
What types of students have you worked with?
All our students are adults (17 and older). 95% of our non-ESL students have a degree of learning difficulty.
