Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I would start by introducing myself and just kinda giving a few fun facts about myself so that students feel more comfortable being helped. Then taking time getting to know the students first and learning what issues they are having so that I can better assist them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
High School Graduate with college Math and English credits. High academic standings in both areas on the ACT as well. Helped to tutor while I was in high school as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
No I do not. I want everyone to feel comfortable with choosing a price range that they can afford to better help them with their child's education.
How did you get started teaching?
By helping out friends in school and then recently by helping friends who are still in school.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with athletes who are having issues understanding things and have also worked with people who just procrastinate.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently helped tutor a friend and he was able to graduate high school because of it.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It's ok to mess up as long as you are trying. Mistakes are the way that people learn and become better students. There are also no stupid questions.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Questions that they feel like they know already. If you feel like you know what a question is asking and are just worried you will mess it up. Just try to think through it once and will be impressed with what you know.
