I provide individual instruction based on style of learning. I have experience in teaching GED and its specific content. I have 20 years experience in all levels of math 2nd grade through college algebra. I am a licensed teacher, certified in math 7-12. I have endless patience and cover any skills that are lacking, and I will meet the student exactly where they are at. I will do a first free lesson when we first meet. I make lessons based on the specific content for math GED. My step by step teaching has helped hundreds of students get their GED. I teach so the student can understand and then practice questions with accurate answers. This successful method instills confidence. Math is often as struggle; I value the opportunity to help. I really enjoy helping students reach their goals.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I do a first, no cost, conversation or meeting in order to answer any questions or concerns. Typically this is done by an initial zoom meeting or phone. If by zoom, and time allows, I will do a lesson. I assess the skills a student needs to pass their GED math. There are very specific skills and questions common to the GED. I make and conduct these lessons based on the skills the student needs. I meet the students where they are at until they understand the content and can practice questions with accurate answers.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I taught GED math for 12 years in an adult education center. I am a licensed Arkansas teacher with a math certification for grades 7-12. I have over 20 years teaching college prep math, high school and middle school math, as well as college math. I create curriculum based on math topics and students level.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is $35 per hour. I do the first meeting/lesson at no cost.
How did you get started teaching?
I struggled with math in junior high. After an excellent teacher helped me understand algebra, I excelled. Years later, after I completed college for nursing as well a Master’s degree in education, I was asked to teach math at a local junior/senior high school, middle school, college, then adult education. It really has become a passion to help other students get the same opportunity to reach their full goals.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all levels of learners with ages 17-70. Some students only need a quick review, others need help with basic math to higher level. Some have accommodations in their learning and testing. I assess what skills are needed at any level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
It will always be when a student declares that they understand math content that they never thought they could. It is thrilling when a student passes their math for GED and also if they choose to then go on to college or trade school.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher that has math skills, but also one who can explain math in a way you understand. Both qualities are important. Everyone learns differently and at different paces. Make sure you feel comfortable and supported. Make sure you are communicating your questions as often as necessary to help the teacher help you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What questions or topics confuse me? Be as specific as possible. The teacher should assess your needs and level, but you can help a lot with your input.
Am I comfortable with the teacher’s attitude and method of teaching? Is the teacher patient and explaining until you understand? Do they welcome your questions, concerns, and input?
Does the teacher have experience in the subject and level for my goal?
Am I putting in the recommended practice time; am I trying my best? Am I doing my part, doing the work? Math needs practice to remember the ‘how-to’.
Do I have time to commit to my studies at this time?
