About

This business began while I was still studying in high school, when my teacher assigned me to help others in English class. After I helped a few people in my tenth grade Honors class, I began getting requests from high schoolers in every grade level for help on their English work. I began to assist those around me with their grammar, ideas, and citations. I did this for two years in Maryland and then I moved to Virginia. I continued to help those around me; however, I was busy working at the YMCA with children and was in AP Literature, so helping others with their work was a less frequent event. I received a three on my AP Language and Composition exam junior year, and a four on my AP Literature and Composition exam. I also received a Regional award for a Journalism competition through the Future Business Leaders of America association at my school. Once I graduated, I wanted to continue helping students with their English based questions. I am a double-major in English and French at a private University, with a teaching license; however, I recently began my college education and wanted to expand my knowledge and experience by helping others with their education. I aim to graduate college and teach English as a foreign language abroad. English is my passion, and I hope to help others find a love for it as well. I will aid students in their efforts to edit and write both essays and short stories.

I enjoy helping others learn more about the language and the subject. I have a passion for teaching, English, and children so I put a lot of effort into my work with students. I enjoy seeing the progress a student makes.

Frequently asked questions

I begin the first meeting with an introduction and a discussion regarding the student's passions and goals for their future. Once that has been discussed, I will ask questions regarding what the student is struggling with and what they aim to get out of the sessions. After going through the discussions, I will begin helping the student in a way that pertains to their specific learning stye and needs.

I am a recent high school graduate, and have taken advanced English classes since the ninth grade. I graduated with an advanced diploma, and several seals for community service. In middle school I took extra creative writing classes. In high school, I attended Book Club regularly and competed in journalism competitions, in addition to AP classes. I was also in the English Honor Society, French Honor Society, and was the Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America. I also was inducted into the National Society of High School Scholars. I completed AP Language and Composition exam junior year with a three, and AP Literature and Composition senior year with a four. I am going into college with the credits for these two classes already complete, and will be in the junior level English class. I have worked with children since I was 12 years old, as a babysitter and YMCA employee, so I have been both a caregiver and teacher in the home when it was asked.

I have always had a passion for becoming a teacher, because my grandmothers were both teachers. My love for children and passion for English, lead me to tutor others in my class and those in grades above me with their English related questions. I aim to get a degree that allows me to teach English as a foreign language abroad.

I have worked with students in standard English classes 9-12th grade and I have assisted children with elementary English homework.

I would advise them to look for someone who understands both the subject and people on a personal level. Tutoring is one on one for a reason and it should be made to help someone in a way that works for them on a personal level. In addition to the personal connection, one should look for a tutor who has a passion for the subject and will work hard to help the student grow in that area.

Think: did I reread my work?, did I reread it aloud?, did I double check my format?, did I make any changes after those first three questions? and finally, is it a good time to reach out or did I wait until the last minute?
