Michaela Hutchins: Math, English, And Reading Tutoring
About
Hello Future Student!!
I am a 23 year old recent college graduate from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and I can't wait to be your tutor! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, and throughout my time in college, I found math to be one of my favorite subjects. However, even before starting college, I taught Latin to several of my younger siblings. I really enjoy teaching the things that I'm passionate about, which includes Math, Languages, Business, and Home Ec.
I have excelled throughout my academic career and in the workplace, graduating Magna Cum Laude and rising to a position of seniorty in my restaurant job. I have had a lifetime of experience working closely with children and young people of all ages, as the oldest in a family of eleven children and as a part-time nanny and babysitter for several years. I have traveled around Europe, and recently volunteered with a children's home in Guatemala for two months. I have done volunteer work in many areas, including Upwards sports, political campaigns, local ministries, and veteran assistance.
I dream of using my experience and knowledge to one day help nonprofits, or to work towards a cause that can have an impact on the world. I look forward to helping you achieve your dreams as well, through whatever tutoring assistance I can provide!
You can find me on Facebook under "Michaela Hutchins" at this link: https://www.facebook.com/michaela.hutchins.1
I hope to hear from you soon!
Thanks,
Michaela

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $18 per online lesson hour. This rate increases if lessons are in-person. Rates are negotiable.
How did you get started teaching?
I was homeschooled through highschool, and as a homeschooler, I often taught myself from textbooks and other curriculum. Later on, through my junior and senior years of highschool and as a college student, I taught Latin to middle school and elementary students. I found my passion for teaching there.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would advise students to look for a tutor who they can relate to and who they find agreeable. It's important for tutors to be patient, and to listen to what the student's individual and personal needs are. The tutor is there for you, as a student, so take advantage of that, and be specific about the areas you're struggling in and the help you need!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should carefully consider what exactly they need and are looking for in a tutor. They should think about the ways they learn and process new material best, and should communicate this to the tutor. For instance, if you're more of an oral than visual learner, communicate this for better results.
