English, Math, And Science Tutoring
About
I have experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I excel in most english, math, and science courses, and I want to help other students excel as well! Everyone learns differently, and I believe helping your student find their unique learning style will be beneficial for their entire academic career. I have the ability to explain a given topic in many ways to cater to different learning styles and find what works best for your student. I am particularly in tune with assisting students with learning disabilities. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Biomedical and Health Sciences at UAB. My ultimate career goal is to obtain my Ph.D. and teach at the university level.

I love helping students get that "aha" feeling when something finally clicks, but even more, I love the pride they feel when they finally understand a concept or do well on an assignment. Teaching students to find and utilize a learning style that is unique to them is the foundation of enjoying academics and finding topics they are passionate about.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to see what students are covering in class (notes, homework, tests, etc.) to gather materials. I then ask a few questions and explain a few topics in different ways to better understand their individual learning style. Then I have students work through practice problems to see where they struggle. After we work through problems, I will help them break down each problem to better conceptualize topics. After students can explain the topic back to me, I have them work some on their own to ensure they understand the topic!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my B.S. in Biomedical Sciences from UAB. I graduated Cum Laude with Distinguished Honors, and I will receive my M.S. in Biomedical and Health Sciences from UAB this upcoming spring. I worked in a cheer/gymnastics studio during my high school years and worked as a teaching assistant at UAB after moving to Alabama.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $20 an hour and start with hour-long sessions. This price is subject to change depending on a student's needs.
How did you get started teaching?
I initially started teaching when I was a coach at a local gymnastics studio in my home town, after this, I progressed to helping friends and family with their schooling. I then became a Teaching Assistant, and now I want to offer my help to children all over the country.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages. From kindergarten to university, I help whoever may need it. I work well with students with learning disabilities. After struggling with ADHD myself, I truly understand just how hard and confusing school can be. I have figured out the ways in which I learn best, and am able to help students like me do the same.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was recently awarded the Graduating Senior Leadership Award from National Dance Marathon partnered with Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. I was the president of the UAB Dance Marathon program my senior year, and we raised over $30,000 for Children's of Alabama. I was one of 29 students, out of thousands to receive this award, and it is what I am most proud of.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I know that school can be tough, and a lot of that is how you are taught a subject. Everyone's brain is unique, and everyone's brain retains information differently. Figuring out how your brain learns the best will change the way you look at school, and you'll see it's not all bad.
