About

First and foremost, I think the most important tool for learning is being able to ask good questions. Questions show me how to understand students and be a better teacher. For that reason, it is crucial to me that I make students feel comfortable asking questions. Of course, it isn’t always easy for students to explain something that is confusing them, so I also find it important to let students try things on their own and see where in the process they get lost. I don’t just want to teach students to follow the same steps that work for only one type of problem. I want them to understand the concepts behind why something works so that it can be applied to a variety of problems. Students need to not only know how to solve problems but why we solve them in the ways we do.

Also, if a student needs help preparing for standardized tests, I am a very strategic and effective test taker.

Being able to teach others is a universal skill that comes in handy in all sorts of jobs. Tutoring others is a great way to understand what makes knowledge of a subject more accessible. This helps in areas like giving presentations and training new employees. I also enjoy watching the progression of a student. Being able to work in a personal capacity with students like a tutor does really helps you appreciate the way different people learn. The best part of tutoring though, would definitely have to be the joy it gives me to pass down all the brilliant teaching I have received over the years from so many great educators. I have been lucky to receive lots of passionate and well structured teaching, and I now want to share it with others.

Frequently asked questions

I have always been a gifted student, especially when it comes to anything related to math. Classmates seek me out for help on that problem they can’t figure out and I have a standing invitation to any and all study groups. I have tutored honor graduates and people who just need to pass.

I graduated from Homewood High School in 2015 as an honor graduate with enough math credits for two people to graduate. As a top competitor for Homewood’s Math Team, I was instrumental in our four state championships during my time there. Also while in high school, I received college credits in calculus, physics, and statistics. I also tutored fellow students in statistics.

Effective test strategies have carried me far in competitions and standardized tests. With the help of pre-test courses, I got a 33/36 on the ACT overall and a 35/36 in math. All these accomplishments propelled me to a scholarship at Louisiana’s premiere research college, Tulane University. I graduated Cum Laude from Tulane in 2019 with my Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering. At Tulane, I succeeded in advanced math courses like Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and fluid mechanics.

While attending Tulane, I was also in charge of a research project in the Biomedical Acoustics Lab. This meant I mentored and managed five fellow students as my assistants while we performed cutting edge biomedical research.

I believe I excelled in my opportunities to study advanced subjects and teach them to others because of my conceptual thinking. I want to explain not only how something works, but why it works.

I just went backpacking for 3 nights out in the mountains of North Carolina!
