Learning Buddy
About
Hello! My name is Melady - skilled accounting professional working as as external auditor at Deloitte, accounting tutor at Coursehero and an ESL teacher at Cambly.
I've always wanted to provide the younger generation academic support and assistance on their learning struggles. I've had excellent tutors and mentors in school, internship and job - and I appreciate how their support and guidance contributed to my growth. These tutors would listen well and provide me with help while challenging me to learn and explain things in a way that led to understanding. Today, these are qualities I hold when I teach and tutor.
My expertise lies in accounting, english and basic math. If you're a beginner I can help you understand the basic concepts in a pace that you can follow.
Shoot me a message and briefly tell me about what your goal is and we can create a personalized lesson plan that works for you.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I start it with sharing information about what I've encountered, in that way the student may feel relieved that he/she is not alone. I learned that sharing experiences and lessons learned goes a long way toward building trust and support. It also helps the student build self-confidence.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a bachelors degree in accountancy and I have 3 years of relevant experience in the field of accounting. I'm also a freelance accounting tutor at coursehero and an esl teacher at cambly.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I price my lesson based on the value I can give to students. I don't charge low just to get a lot of students to choose me but I gave prices that is fair enough for my experience and skills.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching as an accounting tutor at coursehero and I'm already starting to teach english language in cambly.
What types of students have you worked with?
I worked with a lot of accounting students and kids wishing to learn english.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Not every tutor is the right fit for every student. Just like there are teachers students will identify and connect with more than others. In choosing a teacher in a specific expertise it is important that they choose someone that has experience with appropriate grade level and subject. They can also check for references before working with a tutor. Call other parents or fellow students and discuss their interactions with the tutor and how that specific tutor has helped them succeed.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Before they start, however, it's vital to have a solid idea of how the tutor can help them reach their goals. Look for a tutor with a solid toolbox of strategies that have helped other children succeed in the past. Working with a tutor means setting out specific academic goals and then working to reach them. Often, those goals are catching up on academics: supporting skills that they might not have received in the classroom, for example. Other times, a tutor could help them improve their comprehension, develop better organizational skills, or work through homework more effectively.
