About
Hi everyone! My name is Roland and I'm currently a 3rd year medical student at Marshall University working towards a Doctorate of Medicine. Before medical school, I completed a degree in Biology from Wake Forest University back in 2021. At Wake, I pursued coursework in biology as well as general and organic chemistry, physics, psychology, and a variety of elective classes in literature, history, and Latin
During my first 2 years in medical school, I received a rigorous education in anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, and the diagnosis and treatment of human disease. As a 3rd year medical student, I'm now working with local physicians and surgeons to help real patients (its awesome!) and put everything I've learned into practice.
I've been helping others with schoolwork for as long as I can remember - I'm the oldest of 6 and grew up helping my younger siblings with homework and test prep. My formal tutoring experience includes 3 years of peer tutoring as a high school student, private tutoring throughout college, and volunteering as a virtual tutor during the Covid-19 pandemic. I've tutored students in everything from English to chemistry and I'm comfortable with a variety of middle/high school and college-level subjects.
My favorite aspect of tutoring is helping students master concepts they initially saw as difficult or even impossible. There's something really awesome about watching a student have that "aha" moment after completing a challenging problem that they found discouraging the week before. Its really gratifying to see my students' confidence grow as they reach and even surpass their goals. So whether there's a particularly tough class giving you trouble or you need some help with an upcoming standardized test, I'm here to help! Please feel free to contact me and lets get started!
