About
Over the past 7 years I have been tutoring professionally in Richmond, Virginia and building my own academic coaching business, The College Prep Tutor. My goal is to help my students see the same vision of the future creators and thinkers I already see them as. When dreams are anchored in a vision of the future, they become possible tangible goals to be made real.
We must rely on the imagination to forge a vision, as it doesn't yet exist. This requires mental strength to challenge limiting beliefs, and creativity to forge new ones. My students take their first steps into adulthood with confident self-awareness and a skill set to build their own success. My methods and strategies have proved successful, with SAT score increases from 200 -400 points and scholarships to universities such as Duke, NYU and Yale.
Through my experience as a tutor, I developed a multifaceted approach to teaching and learning; a style that is adaptable and uniquely catered to each individual personality. My students discover their true motivations for further education, create meaning and purpose for their academic work, and set clear and measurable goals. They see the potential of their education, not in an isolated sense, but as a tool to empower and design their lives.I began tutoring at James Madison University where I graduated with a double major in English and Arabic. After college I worked at a refugee center with immigrants and their children. Teaching everything from ESL to life-skills in classes, filled with various ages and skill levels, challenged me to refine and evolve my style.
