I'm a big believer that not everyone learns in the same way, and sometimes a student needs a different approach than is given by a teacher in a classroom. Part of my strategy is to get to know the student well, conduct a learning style assessment, and build / adapt my coaching strategy to fit what works for the student. After 30 years in media production, I changed careers and became a classroom teacher through an alternative certification program in Texas. I hold these certifications currently: Generalist 4-8, Social Studies 8-12, Journalism 7-12, and ESL Supplemental 4-12. I recently retired from the classroom, but want to continue my ties to education. The bulk of my classroom experience is with students that have learning differences such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and executive functioning difficulties. I have specialized in working with students on an individual basis and delivering instructions based on their learning styles.
