I am a Texas certified 4th - 8th math teacher. I have 7 years of classroom teaching experience. I have been teaching for the past five years, 8th grade and Algebra 1, in South San Antonio ISD.
It was always my dream to become a teacher. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to keep doing what I love every day.
I love math!!! I love that there is always a right answer, but you have multiple ways for your brain to process how to get there. My favorite part of teaching is helping a student who has been struggling to understand a new concept preserver and make the connections.

I always knew I wanted be a teacher. I graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on 4th-8th grade Mathematics in May 2011 and have been teaching since August 2011.
My entire teaching career has been in Title 1 schools (schools where 90% or more of the students come from low income families).
In college, I was nanny and helped the children with the homework. I continued to tutor the eldest daughter for two years after I left the nanny position.
My advice would be to make sure you find someone who truly enjoys math! Math is one of I subjectsiwhere even though the one right answer, there can be multiple ways to get there. Find a teacher who is able to help you figure out which path makes the most sense to you and also understand how you got there.
