Hello, my name is Teacher Monique Layzell, and I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. Originally from the United States, I spent several years living and attending college in England before returning to America. With TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certifications, I have been teaching ESL for seven years. My experience spans a diverse age range, teaching students from 4 to 65 years old in subjects such as Phonics, Reading, and Conversational Courses. After 30 years in media production, I changed careers and became a classroom teacher through an alternative certification program in Texas. I hold these certifications currently: Generalist 4-8, Social Studies 8-12, Journalism 7-12, and ESL Supplemental 4-12. I recently retired from the classroom, but want to continue my ties to education. The bulk of my classroom experience is with students that have learning differences such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and executive functioning difficulties. I have specialized in working with students on an individual basis and delivering instructions based on their learning styles.

I love watching students learn. Teaching and tutoring them is a great opportunity. I worked as a Substitute Teacher at Prosper ISD for a year and a half. I taught all subjects to all students from K-12th grade for absent teachers. I also during that time worked as a Teacher Assistant with special needs students. Praising students for their work motivates them to achieve hire goals.

I am a retired school teacher and college adjunct instructor with over twelve years of experience working with students from first grade through high school and college. Aside from my Generalist education certification, I am also certified and experienced in ESL (English as a Second Language) instruction. I love helping students reach their goals and would love to help you or your child reach theirs!

Love working with children ages 5-15. I have my Bachelors in Childhood Eduction. I have 4 children ages 5-16.
