I pretty much breathe English. I've been writing seriously since middle school, and I've won a number of writing contests over the years. In May 2019 I graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in English and a concentration in creative writing. I particularly enjoy revising/editing stories and essays but can also help with Literary Analysis, Composition, etc as well as most standardized tests and middle school/high school subjects. I also competed in speech and debate and did theatre throughout high school, earning various awards, so I am very versed in public speaking. I've worked with kids in various camps and tutored them before, and I love working with children and helping them learn! I am a former teacher with certifications in PreK-6th grade core subjects as well as all grade levels of Physical Education, Special Education, and English as a Second Language. I have experience as a middle school PE teacher and coach, a 3rd grade Reading/Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher, and as an assistant in a self-contained special education classroom. I’m now staying home with my own children, but I would love to continue working with young learners. I am passionate about building relationships and helping students gain the confidence and tools they need to take charge of their learning and be successful in and out of the classroom.

I am a teacher with more than a decade in the classroom and more than 15 years as a private tutor. In 2020, I formally launched Hensen tutoring and offered test-prep tutoring (SAT, ACT, ASVAB) and tutoring in social studies and English.
