About
I like to make learning fun. Shouldn't it be? Reading is a lost art to electronics these days. I want to bring the love back.
I love working with students. I get so much energy and positivity from being around them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to meet with parents first and discuss what their goals for tutoring are and what the objectives are so we can make sure that we are a match. If I can't help you with my skill set, I would love to recommend someone who could.
Once we have figured out if we are a fit, we can sit down and discuss how we will proceed and what works best for your family and mine.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a specialty in Reading. I taught in the public school system for 8 years in the elementary system before staying home to raise my own children. Once my children became school aged, we quickly found the traditional school setting wasn't conducive for them so we began homeschooling in 1st grade. They are now a junior and senior in high school. I have taught them the whole time and also taugh other homeschoolers as well as tutored some for state testing.
I am currently teaching at THEO in Plano and using the Logic of English curriculum which is an Orton Gillingham based study to teach reading and language to new readers, struggling readers, and dyslexic students. I have students from 1st grade up to 12 grade in my various classes.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
My advice for hiring is make sure you find someone that fits with the personality of your child. Just because you are a smart doesn't make you a good tutor or teacher. The teacher and student must be able to connect and enjoy it to make learning a fun and positive experience.
