I'm currently a respected professor (PhD and MBA) at a prestigious university. I've been directly involved in education for 20+ years and have been recognized and awarded several times for my commitment to teaching at the high school and college level; like any skill, teaching is a craft and thus something one can always get feedback on and improve upon. Education is a journey that is totally dependent on a working partnership based on mutual trust and respect between instructors and students; without those attributes, the relationship has no meaning and benefit. Trust and respect are not bestowed, but earned EVERY time a teacher and student come together; I ALWAYS do my best to earn those things from my students.
I am a very patient, empathetic, and approachable instructor. Students appreciate that I not only explain the "how" but also the "why" with respect to complex subject matters in the mathematics and sciences (especially biology). I employ many different teaching strategies to help all kinds of learners (e.g., visual, kinesthetic, etc.) improve their grades and ultimately succeed in learning. Thus I am a very effective academic coach and can help any student, especially younger ones, hone their study skills and discipline.
