Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to look over your coursework to get an idea of how the class is set up. From there, we can talk about when and how to meet, pricing, and your specific needs. I want to make sure your learning environment is comfortable and that you feel secure in asking for help.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.Sc. in biology from Penn State University
Trained to work as a wildlife rehabilitation volunteer
Ceritificates and miscellaneous course work covering everything from ecology and religion to conservation and animal behavior
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge between $20 and $40 per hour based on the intensity and level of expertise required for the subject material. I am, however, negotiable, as I believe everyone should have access to the help they deserve!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students from the ages of 11 to 21, including students with Asperger's and ADHD. I can generally do any K-8 subject, most high school courses, and some college courses (would like to review the syllabus first as all courses teach slightly different things).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
More than anything, find someone you're comfortable with! Lots of people are plenty smart enough to help you with your courses, but that's no use if you don't feel comfortable talking to them and asking questions.
