I am a third-year college student majoring in neuroscience. I have 2 years of private tutoring experience. I have taken AP Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Calculus, as well as multiple STEM college courses. I like to use a hands-on approach, integrating many different teaching techniques to ensure you understand the material and can succeed in your class. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Generally, I like to spend the first session understand the student's goals as well as their strengths and weaknesses. I ask that they bring materials and questions to their sessions so that I can most efficiently help them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a premed student and I have a bachelors degree from the University of Oregon. I have 4 years of private tutoring experience. I have taken advanced (AP) classes in high school as well as many upper-division STEM classes at my university.

I charge $20 per 1 hr session.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would suggest reaching out via email, social media, etc. to see how comfortable they are with the material you need help with. I would also ask about their teaching style and see if it matches what you are looking for.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Have a good idea of what you are struggling with so that you can clearly express your concerns and needs.
