About
Having always been fascinated by numbers and the natural sciences, I bring an enthusiasm and an interest to my work that is atypical of those who have been teaching / tutoring for as long as I have (been). What is more is that I carry with me a breadth of understanding, from Algebra to Statistics, and from Calculus to Physics (among other fields), that is uncommon.
Over the course of my life, I have fostered what, in psychology, is referenced as a "need for cognition." I firmly believe that a careful examination of mathematics and the natural sciences can serve as a gateway to a better understanding of the world in which we live.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics (Magna cum Laude) from Syracuse University, and I hold a Master of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University at Albany.
I have taught and tutored for nearly twenty years, have worked at a variety of institutions, to include Mohawk Valley Community College, Schenectady County Community College, S. U. N. Y. College of Oswego, the University at Albany, and Colgate University.
I currently serve as a Lecturer (Mathematics and Physics) at S. U. N. Y. Polytechnic Institute and Utica College.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My standard rate typically varies from $25.00 per hour to $45.00 per hour, depending upon the amount of preparation and travel that are required. I have been known to reduce the rate that I charge for those students who may be struggling financially and show a genuine interest in learning.
How did you get started teaching?
I have known from the time that I was in Junior High School that I wanted to teach, and I began tutoring whilst still a student in High School.
I actually began teaching as I was completing my degree program in Mathematics (Bachelor of Arts) at Syracuse University.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students ranging in age from eight to sixty-something, both in private and in group sessions.
