About
Welcome to Huntington Learning Center, the premier tutoring & SAT/ACT prep service in the Capital Region. Our results speak for themselves! Tutoring students average a 2 grade level increase after about 60 days, depending on the frequency of sessions. Our SAT students average a 248 point increase, and ACT students a 5.8 point increase.
Why are Huntington students so successful? Because we have developed a proven system over the last 43 years that includes an individualized plan, custom tailored to the needs of each student. We start with a very detailed academic evaluation so we can identify each student's academic level and needs. This is an interactive process that takes between 2-4 hours, and a critical part of our success. We then custom build a plan that will work, depending on your student's goals. In addition to your tutor, a Director will be assigned to monitor and manage your child’s program to ensure expected progress is happening.
Our certified teachers are very caring, and trained to build motivation and confidence. Individualized plans and curriculum are designed specifically for each student. Most students actually look forward to coming because they enjoy the success and confidence!
We spend considerable resources recruiting, screening and training high quality tutors so you don’t have to. Our tutors are the best!
We work closely with the local school systems. With your permission, we will meet with your child’s school teacher to discuss the best way to help your child succeed. We meet regularly with parents to discuss progress and make adjustments as needed.
We have extended hours throughout the week, and make it easy to fit tutoring into your busy schedule!
Huntington has flexible payment options that make our programs affordable for all income levels. Many discounts are available depending on the service and circumstances of each student.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
There is more to successful tutoring than simply possessing the academic skills. Someone needs to develop the curriculum and methods before the tutor provides the instruction. It is rare for one tutor to be able to effectively do all of that. At Huntington, a Director builds the curriculum and oversees the program, while the tutor presents it. The Director's role is to ensure the program is effective and make adjustments when necessary. This includes regular meetings with the parents and students to make sure the student is progressing as expected. We have spent 43 years fine tuning a system that really works! Our curriculum and methods are unmatched.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you accredited? Huntington is accredited by the Middle States Association. This ensures the quality of our instruction and programs.
