About
In these strange times, I am happy to help you! I can tutor via zoom for individual or groups of students. I am a 2013 graduate of Cornell University's engineering school and beginning my PhD in Civil Engineering at Vanderbilt University. For the last 6 years, I have worked as a mechanical engineer for ExxonMobil - where I have received extensive training in today's cutting edge engineering thinking. Because of my extensive industry experience, I know and can explain the "why" behind math and science topics - making learning more intuitive and fun. I am new to tutoring, but I have experience as the head coach of a youth (4-18) swim team, an undergraduate teaching assistant, and mentor to young engineers and students in my career. I love math and science and love to share my passion with young people. I care deeply abourt understanding the meaning behind the answer - not just learning tricks to find the correct solution. I can help students find a new interest in math and science and skills to help themselves find the right answer.

Frequently asked questions
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
-BS Mechanical Engineering
How did you get started teaching?
I began coaching swimming around 14 and was the head coach of a local swim team by 19. I was a TA in college and served as a mentor to young engineers in my career. I really enjoy seeing young people work hard and finally get something - espcially if it's a topic I find interesting as well.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Don't just say I don't get it. Think about what's giving you trouble. Ask your teachers why is this useful. What's the big picture here.
