About
It's very important to me to make my students feel as comfortable as possible, and to not be afraid of the subject material. I've often found that fear of a subject can be the biggest hindrance to effectively mastering it, and my strategy is to make my students feel confident in their intelligence and their abilities, and feel that they can successfully use the strategies we come up with to reach each of their goals.
I've been lucky to have good teachers in my life, who have instilled a love of learning and education in me. I love tutoring, because it's a chance to pay that forward, and to really connect with students over materials that I have a passion for. Seeing students find excitement in what they're learning, particularly when they didn't before, is a huge reward in itself, and something that I love being able to help foster.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically do a thorough assessment of where the student feels comfortable and where they are having difficulty - having a sense of their strengths and weaknesses allows me to expand upon the strengths and use the student's capabilities to target each weakness.
I also talk to the student about their preferred methods of studying - I like to recommend strategies that the student can easily incorporate, rather than entirely unfamiliar techniques.
Most importantly, I create a step by step study plan with clear, achievable action items for each week or each day, depending on the circumstance. Having a checklist always helps my students, and me as their tutor.
