About

I am a very interactive person with a passion for helping others learn. I love learning myself and enjoy seeing students that struggle with concepts reach their learning and understanding goals. I am a senior at East Carolina University, majoring in Education with a concentration high school biology.

I love seeing students proud when they ace a test that they have studied hard for, especially when I have helped them achieve this goal. I enjoy helping students reach their academic goals and helping them understand interesting concepts that they may not have previously found interesting. Subjects I teach best include Biology, Psychology, Anatomy, Physics, and basic Algebra.

I am incredibly organized and emphasize deep learning and understanding when I teach, with a particular push for encouragement and motivation. Students that tutor with me will receive my unfocused attention, most likely aided with diligent notes taken from college classes or the textbook your student has given me to reference.

Frequently asked questions

My typical process for working with a new student includes explaining the overall topic and watching a student manage to work through the problem. Once the difficulty in understanding arises, I work to explain the concept that the student does not understand. I will normally work out a similar problem for them so that they have work to look back on when the next problem occurs. I emphasize taking notes and making "brain paths" to commit difficult information to memory and promote deep learning.
I am a senior student in my Internship 1 semester at ECU majoring in Education with a concentration in biology in the high school classroom. For the past three semesters I have acquired over 50 hours directly helping students learn inside the classroom, aiding their regular teachers.
I price per hour, and I normally wait for information on what I'm going to be teaching and how frequently the student would like to be tutored to give a quote.
You should look for a teacher that is easy to talk to and communicate your problems with. It is difficult to find a tutor that understands your questions and learning styles, so find a teacher you feel comfortable with. :)
Some questions that students think through before talking to teachers about their needs include what particular part of the concept that they do not understand, why they believe they are not understanding it in the classroom setting, and what improvements could the tutor make that the teacher is not.
