I am passionate about providing individualed tutoring and getting to know each and everyone of my students. I am 17 years old and a senior at Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax County. I live very close to both Robinson Secondary and Oak View Elementary School, and my mother is a kindergarten teacher at Oak View. As a student, I feel I am better able to relate to and help fellow students, and see problems from a different perspective than teachers. This also means my availability is very similar to that of an average student. The math subjects I am able to help with are basic and complex arithmetic, basic statistics, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, and some Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry. I have more experience in tutoring for Algebra 1 and begin ... View Profile

I have experience teaching in several formats, and I prefer one on one tutoring. The process becomes a conversation instead of a lecture, and the student becomes an active participant instead of a passive listener. I have done this for many years, dating back to high school, when the math department sent kids to me who had trouble with algebra. My skills as a teacher are very good, and I am an excellent listener and diagnostician. I am able to determine what the scope of the problem is and to plan steps to correct it. Many of my students who start out behind their classes progress to the point where they are ahead of their classes. ... View Profile

I am a passionate math teacher who loves to watch students excel. My main focus is to ensure that the students I interact with gain the skills needed to make learning easier. The greatest struggle I see with students today is they allow themselves to get discouraged when the learning becomes difficult since so many of them have had no issues up to that point. Students need constant reassurance that they can overcome any obstacle with enough work and effort.I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a double major in Mathematics and Secondary Education. I spent so much time and effort while in school learning not only from my t ... View Profile
I have worked with over 2000 students in the last 15+ years helping each student with an individualized program created just for that student. They can work at their own pace until they master a topic before moving moving to the next level. We are NOT a franchise providing cookie cutter services and order of study dictated by corporate offices in another state or country. I select curriculum and a plan of study for each specific student. I work with the student, the parent, and the school to provide the services in the best interest of the student with the family's goals in mind. ... View Profile
