Howdy! I'm James . I understand you want your child to do well in school, so that he/she can succeed, and lead a happy, productive life. I'm on board with that, and want to help teach your child the skills that will help him/her succeed in the school system and beyond.
I've worked with the young - and the young at heart! - ages 1 - 99, helping those under my care to understand and apply difficult concepts, improve social/emotional intelligence, and learn to think critically.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I seek to understand the current ability level of the student, compared to where they're expected to be. I will review past assignments completed by the student, and speak with the parents, and establish a plan of action. During this time, I get to know the student, and what he/she does. Afterwards, we get to work: For each assignment, the student does their best once, on a clean sheet of paper. Then, I evaluate what they've done so far, and work with them to ensure they understand how to complete the remaining questions, and any they answered incorrectly. At the end, I ask what they learned, to help cement the lessons of that day.
