Hi, my name is Sylvia, and I can recite every line of the movie The Princess Bride. Also, I love working with students! The most rewarding part of tutoring for me is when a new concept “clicks” with a student - their excitement is contagious, and it’s a privilege to be able to help them reach that point! On a personal level, I am a friendly, outdoorsy, athletic, and talkative type of person! I partner with students on a one-on-one basis in STEM subjects through SoFlo Tutors, my tutoring agency. Kangsoo Y. says, "We just moved to the US from Korea and the change has been very tough for my kids. They are not familiar with the US school system and falling behind. I saw their confidence draining. But all of that changed when SoFlo came into the picture. To start, they gave a free assessment so they could figure out where my children were struggling. From there we had weekly tutoring sessions that my kids actually enjoy. I am seeing their confidence return and life in the US get better for them" Read more

Hello there! My name is Tahoor Haque, I am a rising senior that has just took the ACT. As such, all content from k-11 is fresh in my mind. I am not totally comfortable teaching English and Reading, although I did get a 35 and 36 respectively on each subject. However, if the student is willing then I am also willing to try. My specialty is in math, as long as its not calculus.(Yet) I like to understand the way a student learns and tailor my teaching methods based on their individual needs. I will take feedback from parents and student into account.

"My daughter had to write a pre-algebra test in a few days and I was concerned she was struggling. I contacted SoFlo online, expressed my concern and in spite of the tight schedule they moved things around to accommodate my daughter. I witnessed the session and it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I love the teaching method, and that my daughter was offered multiple methods to solve the same problem. I recommend SoFlo highly! He truly cares about you understanding the material. He has his own notes that he shares with you to make sure you understand what you are doing. He also takes it step by step and asks you after each step if you understand it. He also will answer your questions if you text them to him outside of a tutoring session. He texted me pictures of the work, and when I didn't understand it still, he met with me during a time that we did not have set up to show me how he did it and did not charge me for that meeting. He truly cares about your success and is not just doing it for the extra money. I would recommend him to anyone needed a tutor.

I’d give Vlad a million stars if I could! ⭐️ He’s the best tutor! My senior daughter didn’t intend to take the ACT because the schools she was applying to were test optional and her grades were As and Bs. But her college counselor said a good ACT score could really help with admissions, and we also discovered some of the nursing programs require an ACT score even though the university doesn’t. So with a little less than 2 months to study she signed up for the October test. A friend recommended Vlad to us. First, he created a flexible schedule that fit with my busy daughter’s school and sports schedule. Not an easy thing to do. Then they went to work. With only 7 weeks to study, Vlad developed a plan which did require 2 sessions a week with him plus practice tests every week too. The hard work paid off. Her practice ACT score that she took at her high school was a 23. After working with Vlad she raised her score to a 28. If she had more time (she applied early action so test scores needed to be submitted this fall) she would have worked with Vlad longer, and she would have taken the ACT again in December. We think she probably would have scored in the 30s because that was the trajectory she was on. Vlad really connected with my daughter and understood her shortcomings regarding test taking skills required to succeed. He honed in on that, teaching her strategies, which gave her confidence. If we were to do it all over again, we should have started with Vlad earlier, because it was a lot to cover in less than 2 months. But for a one and done, we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. A 5 point improvement is AMAZING! If you want a truly personalized test prep tutor who gets results, Vlad is the guy. He connects with and motivates students to do their best. His proven track record of test score improvement is the proof!
