I am dedicated to helping others experience how much education can change their life. By tutoring in general competency (such as English grammar) or specific skills (such as video editing or essay writing), I hope to help my students achieve their larger goals, whatever they may be. Education: Master's in media, Bachelor's in film, and Bachelor's in linguistics. Subjects: I can tutor ACT/SAT prep, English, writing, basic/intermediate filmmaking and video editing, film history and criticism, and linguistics.

I tutored my younger siblings in all subjects throughout their elementary school years. Two years ago I volunteered through Beyond School once a week tutoring sixth graders. For one semester I was an aide in a Spanish classroom for 6th through 8th graders and will be returning in the fall. I have experience tutoring elementary and middle school children. I am a practicing attorney, a Yale graduate, and an aunt to 4 wonderful, curious children who have yet to stump me with their questions. I have a knack for explaining even complex ideas in simple, straightforward ways, and my favorite way to get kids to learn is to apply the new information and techniques to their existing interests. Whether in math, reading, English, or history, my goal as a tutor is to build a strong foundation in reasoning so that my students can gain the confidence to approach new problems without fear.

I feel like I did a good job when I can see the connections that are being made, whether it be from a formula to practicing an equation correctly, to realizing a theme in book/article, to connecting historical events over time! I enjoy seeing students achieve that "aha" moment, that look of pride in their eyes. When they're on track or right on point with our area of concern and are that much closer to being able to work independent of my assistance.
