I have four years teaching English language learners. I love language and linguistics. Words tie everything together! I love the look on a student's face when they figure out a word that's been bothering them. I have mostly taught older teens and adults up to 50 years of age. I am working from home right now and will eventually be able to meet at your house or in a coffee shop, etc.

Hi my name is Andrew, and I'm pursuing a degree in medical physics. As a physicist, I've found that teaching others is the best way for me to study. In that, I love figuring out the best and most intuitive ways to explain things. Make complex concepts easy to understand, with everyday analogies and simple wordings. Einstein said, "if you can't explain something simply, then you don't understand it, " and I live by that. I've excelled in being a tutor in the past, helping K-12 students in math, science, English, social sciences, etc. I hope to continue to foster a welcoming and understanding learning environment with students again. Kennedy M. says, "Speaking from my experience, Patrick is a great teacher and manages to make learning engaging, even for students that are not necessarily interested in school. He has a unique view on English as a subject and entertains entirely new perspectives on the material that he teaches. Overall, I would recommend him as a tutor for almost anybody." Read more

Safa M. says, "Hi, my name is Safa and I’m a mother to 3 teen boys aged 18, 16 and 13. All 3 of my boys were struggling in different subjects and I knew they needed individualized support to help them excel but i just could not find the right tools to help them. A friend recommended this company and my experience with them as been absolutely wonderful. We were able to find suitable tutors for all my 3 kids that matched their frequency and tutors that were able to effectively help them excel. My boys take multiple hours of tuition a week with their tutors, each on their own time and all 3 of them are doing better in school and their grades have improved. In my personal experience, his company comes highly recommended." Read more

I am an enthusiastic individual who has spent the last three years teaching middle school language arts and history. Before that, as a education student, I was trained as a ReadingCorps tutor and provided one-on-one intervention to students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. I recently left the teaching profession to pursue a career in finance, but still have a passion for helping students learn and grow!

Reviews for Troy English tutors

Recent success stories from people in the Troy area.
Christian T.
Over the past three years, we have selected Aaron to work with our son for his math tutoring and SAT prep. Since working with Aaron we have seen our son’s Algebra II, Trig and Calculus grades move and maintain A status. Aaron does an excellent job of working with the student through the problems and ensuring they understand the concepts and the potential pitfalls that might arise in performing the work. We also selected Aaron for our son’s PSAT and SAT prep. We saw dramatic improvement and outperform his peers in this area. His work and preparation with our son gave him a marked improvement vs the first time he took the test. More than 80 point improvement. This resulted in a Superscore over 1450 for his SAT. Aaron gives excellent recaps of the work with the student to the parents and his communication is timely and actionable. Of the tutors we have worked with, Aaron by far has been the very best.

I did not expect my son to do that much better on his SAT, but Hazem helped him reach a new level in such a great way.

I signed up for tutoring for my 9th grader because he was falling behind in his Math class and just needed help to clear out concepts that couldn't be cleared in class. I was so happy with the tutor I got as he was caring, kind and knowledgeable and really helped Jason get through the year comfortably.
