Hello! My name is Ian and I am happy you chose to read a little bit about me! I graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a degree in Secondary Education. As a working educator, I thoroughly enjoyed inspiring students and helping them achieve all of their personal and academic goals. I worked at a few of Michigan's top public schools and was encouraged to teach a talented group of tenth graders an accelerated world history course over the summer. I'm a student at an elite New-England Boarding school. I'm currently enrolled in Calculus and have successfully completed Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, and Algebra 2. I've extensively studied standardized testing, achieving a 780 on a practice SAT and a 35 on an official ACT. Recently, I've worked with a dozen plus students with learning disabilities or students that have missed extensive amounts of school due to illness, family death, etc.

Chess Tutoring: I learned how to play chess at the age of 9. I'm a rated tournament chess player, a member of the Michigan Chess Association and the United States Chess Federation. I was the past president of the Oak Park Chess Club for 22 years. I've played 3000+ over-the-board games. I've taken my chess team to three first place victories in the Detroit Metro League. Currently, I've been teaching chess in elementary schools. Chess is my passion, and I would like to help my students improve their chess game from beginner to intermediate, and beyond.
