About
Hello! :)
My name is Aly, and I may be the ideal tutor for you!
I recently graduated from Tarleton State University with a Master in Business Administration. Prior to that, I attended Baylor University and received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biochemistry, Pre-Med with a minor in Mathematics. I worked at Baylor University as a Chemistry Lab Instructor for a year and a half and as a Supplemental Instructor for Chemistry Lab for a year. During my college career, I was a part of many honor societies, including Golden Key International Honor Society, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and Tau Sigma Honor Society, among many others.
I have been tutoring since 2013, and all of my students have excelled. I would love to help your child to succeed! As part of my work, I tutor students in math (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and general math), science (general math and chemistry), and Language Arts (including English, reading, vocabulary, and writing), among many other areas of learning.
In general, I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences in addition to worksheets, if needed. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the student. With the current climate, I am available for virtual tutoring sessions via video conferencing through Skype, FaceTime, or any other apps.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first like to learn more about the student and what topics they are struggling with. I like to make sure that we review any basic concepts that they may have difficulty with and then move into the more difficult topics. In general, I favor a "hands-on" approach to teaching that involves a lot of interaction between the tutor and student, and concrete experiences in addition to worksheets, if needed. However, my specific methods vary according to the subject being taught and the learning style of the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been tutoring since 2013; all of my students have excelled and have reached the educational goals they set for themselves. Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Standard pricing for tutoring is $50.00 per hour. I have seen the best results for students that have consistent tutoring at least once a week. In the event that a student needs additional sessions during the week due to difficulty with homework or upcoming quizzes or tests, I am available to conduct multiple tutoring sessions in a week.
How did you get started teaching?
I first started my teaching and tutoring career while I was at Baylor University. Due to my high achievements in his class, my Chemistry professor had chosen me from all of his students to be a Chemistry Lab Instructor and a Supplemental Instructor for Chemistry Lab courses. I loved teaching my peers and assisting them to further their education in Chemistry. Once I graduated, I decided to continue my passion of teaching by starting to tutor students in several high school and college level courses courses, including Chemistry and Mathematics. I have continued to tutor and really enjoy seeing my students succeed!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked all levels of students from elementary to college. However, most of my clients are high school and college students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
When looking for a tutor, it is important to make sure that you are comfortable with their tutoring methods so that you can be sure to understand the material. I adapt to different learning styles in order to ensure the student is able to comprehend any difficult topics. For this reason, I believe that I can help you to excel.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
When talking to teachers about what topics you need assistance with, it is important to gather the topics that you have difficulty in understanding and compile those; these include both foundational and fundamental concepts. Also, be sure to let the tutor know what is the best way for you to grasp concepts, whether that be going through multiple examples, worksheets/homework to complete on your own, or application questions.
