Hi, I'm Cristina! I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education-English. I also earned a Master's degree as a K-12 Reading Specialist at National Louis University. I am currently a high school English and reading teacher. I have been a teacher for the past 9 years, but I've been tutoring k-12 students in both one-on-one and small group settings since I was in high school.
I love to help the subject matter come to life for my students, as well as make it meaningful for them. As a classroom teacher, I find ways to differentiate lessons according to my students' needs, and I do the same for students that I tutor. During my office hours, I often meet one-on-one with students who need additional support with their writing or comprehension of texts. I'm also happy to see when my former students contact me to receive help with writing their college essays. I have also taught classes that focus on ACT/SAT preparation for the English and reading sections.
Ultimately, my top priority is to help my students be successful. I'm passionate about what I do, and I am motivated to help each one of my students reach their highest potential. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
I feel fully qualified to tutor in the subject areas of reading and writing. I am a certified Reading Specialist for grades K-12. I am also a certified teacher, and I've been teaching high school English and reading classes for the past nine years.
I have flexible evening and weekend hours for tutoring.
