About
Hello, my name is Andrew Woodall. I attended Kennesaw State University for a degree in professional chemistry. I have been tutoring for over 6 years now in both chemistry and certain levels of mathematics. Last year I taught high school math, specifically geometry and algebra 2 in Gwinnett county, but my passion is certainly in the field of chemistry. My approach as a tutor involves setting goals, practicing new material, and always to be patient with my students. Many tutors make the mistake of trying to teach the material during sessions. Tutoring is meant to be a process for practicing challenging problems a student learned in class. I always do my best to provide outside resources as well for students that are struggling with a particular topic. I look forward to helping you along your education journey and hopefully have fun in the process!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
At first the best thing to do is map out a students needs/desires. We can set some prelimary goals and work towards them throughout the semster.
I like to start with some practice questions to get a basic idea of where the student is at in his/her development.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored throughout high school and as a college student I have taken many education courses on my track to becoming a certified educator. I have helped many classmates and general students prepare for mathematics and chemistry exams as well.

How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching in high school when I started marching band. I would often succeed in learning a set of bars and then help other students who were struggling. I believe this is what initially drove my passion for teaching. Over the years I have been tutoring students, classmates, and even family! There is nothing more gratifying than knowing that you can be apart of someone's academic growth and success.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly high school-college students.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find a teacher whose teaching style best represents your needs. Many students require hands on learning, auditory learning, visual learning, or a combination of these. If your in-school teacher does not use the method that best suits you then your tutor should be adaptive to your needs.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask yourself,
-Why am I struggling with this subject?
-Do I understand the concepts, but not the math( or vice-versa)?
-Am I paying attention in class or do I completely lack interest?
-How much work am I willing to put in to get the grade I want?
