Lucy Thomas

I am rising junior at Scripps College majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Spanish with extensive experience working with children ages six through fifteen as an environmental educator. My tutoring method involves adapting to your student’s learning style and from there working with them to set a succession of achievable goals agreed upon by the student and parent. I believe in creating a learning environment where patience is valued and judgement is avoided in order to encourage kids to ask questions and feel relaxed and comfortable with their progress and level in the material.

The main areas I believe I can help your student succeed are writing and rhetoric or Spanish up to the Advanced Placement high school level, but I am very comfortable with tutoring in math up to the level of pre-calculus as well. I place high value on parental and student feedback, and will make sure to alter my methods accordingly.
