What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Whenever I assist someone by providing a better understanding of mathematics, I start by asking the person to list on a sheet of paper as many ideas from previous classes before my instruction that comes to mind. From there, we can try to draw a connection & provide motivation to the lesson that the student might be struggling with.
