I have been teaching High School Chemistry and Biology for the past 15 years. I have taught AP Biology, AP Environmental, Honors Chemistry, and Honors Biology. I have a unique teaching style that allows my students to gain new insight and new passion for a field they at first had no interest in.
I love helping students gain a better understanding for the world around them, and how it works. By applying real world problems and solutions students can relate science to their everyday lives making it more relevant.
Erin is an Excellent tutor she gives you a lot of positive tools to succeed. She is invested in your success , and any thing you learn from her you can use in all aspects of school.
The instructor was prepared and had the relevant material to start. Ability to modify teaching style in a manner I was able to comprehend. Suggest additional tips and tricks to make learning the subject matter flow more smooth. She was flexible in scheduling and her teaching style is to make learning fun.
What I liked the most about working in Chemistry class was that we had a lot of interactive activities that allowed me to be able to learn in a fun way. There were hands-on experiments almost every week which kept the students engaged and ready to learn. These experiments were not just for fun as Ms. Craven was able to teach several different concepts with these experiments. I also enjoyed that she was very engaged and interested in helping her students succeed and expand their horizons. She took me and other female classmates to the Engaging Girls in STEM convention where we were able to meet women that were part of the STEM working force. I was able to get a clearer understanding of what it takes to become involved in STEM and that it’s not impossible.
With Erin as my tutor, I was able to pass my intro to Chemistry class with a B+. She explains concepts thoroughly and goes over any concept I didnt understand fully. She answered all my questions and simplified anything I saw to be difficult.
I first have conversations with the students to find out what their goals are and what they are looking for in a tutor/instructor. Once I know what their goal is we come up with a plan to execute their goal. For each lesson I customize a lesson plan tailored to their specific needs. It's important that the student know what they are expecting from the lesson, the clearer they are on expectations the more focused our lesson can be.
