Danica B. says, "Dianna was great! She took it at a pace that I felt comfortable with, and her teaching method was easy to understand. She explained concepts to me when I was confused, and we walked through problems together. She was able to meet with me whenever I needed it, and she made sure I was fully prepared for my exams. If I ever had a quick question, I could send her a text and she got back quickly. She was kind, funny, intelligent and overall a wonderful tutor. I couldn't recommend her more! " Read more

I have over ten years experience in tutoring math, from elementary students through college students. My goal is to help my students understand why they take the steps they are taking, where formulas come from, and how to work methodically, step by step. I have tutored many students considered at risk, as well as students with different learning styles. I also taught high school Algebra and Geometry for 1 1/2 years as a long-term substitute teacher, so I am used to working with students with different abilities. I love it when the "light" goes on in my students! So many are intimidated and believe they will never learn how to do their math a...

My service stands out because I put 100% of my part to every child I tutor. The children I have tutored have gotten Honor Roll which the parents I work with are thankful for. I enjoy seeing the improvements in the children I tutor. I want to help them succeed in their academics and seeing their improvements is rewarding for me.

Richard S. says, "When you are not a math major, but required to fulfill credits in the subject, there is nothing more intimidating than that midterm or final. Luckily, there are people like Raymond Carty to personally coach students into strengthening the left side of the brain. The first thing that is required of any tutor is being personable. The second most important thing that students rely on in tutors is being extremely knowledgeable in their field. The third thing that students need from a tutor is the ability to demystify the subject for non-majors of the field. Ray embodies all three of these qualities as a person, and as a math tutor. Heavy were my eye lids as I sit in the sweltering Hawaiian heat, in a crumbling classroom without air conditioning. The professor demonstrates math computation on the board, as my vision begins to blur. The chalk continues to scratch the board. My eyes close. I just cannot connect to this subject on the personal level. It does not click with me. After class is over, I ask Ray, the university TA, for some help learning the subject. I was a serious student who wanted to pass the class, but I just needed some extra academic support. Ray is easily approachable, and an all round jolly individual to be around. He has a passion for his field that just radiates out of his being, and leaks onto those who he tutors. He is easy to speak with and a very positive person. Ray is very knowledgeable in his field of study. He would show me math computation pertaining to what we were currently learning. That made my fully confident in him as an intellectual authority on the subject, and made me feel confident in myself that I can learn math. Finally, Ray had a way of demystifying the material, a way of explaining it to me that I can understand, learn, and demonstrate the skill. Professors (and teachers) can be intimidating by presenting the material in a much more highly advanced application. Ray did not make math scary, like many educators do. He made it to where I can understand it, enjoy it, and be successful in the classroom. I highly recommend Raymond Carty. If you are looking for someone to help you learn math vocabulary or computation, or are simply just trying to get through that test, Ray is a very personable, knowledgeable, and effective communicator of this field of study." I founded Innovation Education, formerly Math Magicians, because practical, cost-effective tutoring that helps students with the work they are currently learning in school was not available in our community. I am a math and STEM teacher and I didn't have an answer for parents seeking a tutor for their students. Teaching students and helping them master the skills they need to succeed in school and in life has been a passion of mine since I started teaching.

I am currently a Senior attending Verdugo Hills High School. I have no experience in tutoring but I do love to help my classmates whenever they are stuck on a math subject. I have never failed a math class and strive to make sure you never will too. I will do my best to adjust to the teaching method that suites you best and make it easy to understand at the same time.

I could not be more thankful that Mint was my teacher for SAT Math. She was very understanding of the material and constantly came up with ways to make learning fun for her students. With her tricks to memorize the skills I needed to learn for specific for the SATs, I was able to get the score I had never dreamt of: 780.

Raymond was extremely patient and kind, and worked hard with me to help me with linear algebra and multivariable calculus concepts. He was determined and always taught me in a clear and consistent manner. He truly was a remarkable tutor, and would not have passed my course without his help.

Though we only just began working together, I must say that Brooke has been absolutely amazing! Patient, kind, flexible, very professional yet personable, and she knows her stuff. Brooke understands that everyone has a different way of learning and is very accommodating, finding the best way to make sure the student truly understands the lesson at hand. I genuinely cannot recommend her enough! Working with her has been a WONDERFUL experience thus far!
