I have been providing tutoring services online and in person for over 7 years. I have tutored from high school to master's level candidates. Similarly , I just completed a year as a lecturer at UC Davis where I received my undergraduate degree in 2017. Between achieving my master's degree in 2018 and starting my professional career, I have also garnered extensive experience consulting and tutoring students through the college application process focusing on grammar, diction, and syntax for their writing. I enjoy working with students from all levels to help them achieve their goals by understanding their mode of learning and helping them build confidence in their work.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Usually, I start with a one on one to get to know the student , their working environment or resources, and where there educational goals lay. Then, we may do a small trial tutoring session to be sure the match works.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My base price is $25/hr. My rates stay pretty constant for basic tutoring lessons. However, I do ask for open and honest communication with my clients to ensure a fair amount of work for the price. If an exorbitant amount of work is offered on my end; i.e having to create own "homework" for students not equipped with resources to study from, I may ask for a few dollar increase.


How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching when I started college as my side job. I have always been very academically inclined and have a knack for breaking down problems so they can be easily understood. I used to be asked quite a bit by friends and family to provide tutoring services and decided to make it more official in 2013 when I began college.


What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with students ranging from age 12 up to 33 years old. By learning level, this is from middle school up to master's or PHD candidates. I work with a range of students from various ethnic, economic, and academic backgrounds. 


Describe a recent event you are fond of.

In my downtime, I read/listen to various types of thinkers and writers. Recently, one of my favorite podcasters, Lewis Howes, went on a retreat with a bunch of fellow thinkers ( i guess they all hang out) and instead of lounging around and partying, they engaged on somewhat of a spiritual journey together. This included taking ice baths together and hiking several miles in a day. What was most profound about this was the level of personal reflection each of the attendees came back with. Each of them have brought up several morsels of wisdom back from the trip. One of my favorite quotes from the trip was: If you treat a man as he ought to be, he becomes what he ought to be. 


What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would say, do not be afraid to ask dumb questions. Writing is an art form and mastering English language is something we all will continue learning and expounding upon the rest of your lives. It can be tedious but I promise once you overcome it, your confidence and comfort will be paramount.
