I first started teaching at Olive Vista junior high school in Sylmar California. I worked for the Los Angeles unified school district . Then I moved to San Diego in and found a tremendous need for math tutors existed here and began working for professional tutoring companies after which I formed my own company algebra geometry and basic math tutoring and I have been tutoring now ever since.
I work with students typically from seventh to as far as 10th grade sometimes even in college when students are attempting to complete their basic math requirements involving algebra
Recently I worked with a student who had arrived here to Carlsbad from the East Coast and was a little overwhelmed with the transition to common core curriculum she was very far behind and having to complete a very complicated online math course. To catch up we worked intensely for a couple of weeks and she texted me saying she had gotten an 86 on the final considering that she started with a D when we began working that was a very gratifying result .
Make sure you're working with somebody who knows how to teach who knows how you struggle and most important, someone who can make it fun.
Try to understand what you're having the most trouble with is it basic math skills are you struggling with solving equations would you prefer to be shown how or told how to do things some students are better visual learners for instance try to take it back to where you first began to experience a struggle then we can strengthen those skills and begin from there.
