Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I seek to understand the student's background, aptitude for learning, and motivations. Then we address the current topic and I assess what ideas are firmly understood, which ideas are being studied at the moment, and which are upcoming or necessary and overlooked.
During a session we start off by catching up on work since the last session and what will be covered this time. When engaging in discussion I spend time asking engaging questions to direct the student's focus.
A session always ends with discussion of what we learned, an understanding of my expectations/homework, and a reiteration of schedule and study habits.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked for community colleges and universities as a coach/trainer in athletics.
