Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to first know the subject (such as Honors Algbra 2, for example) and then if the student wants more specifc help, I like to know what they're working on. For example: Algebra 2- Synthetic Division.
this allows me to prepare pratice materials for students.
In tutoring math, I like to first give the student a practice problem related to the topic that they need tutoring on. If they answer correctly, we can move toward more difficult questions, or other kinds of problems relating to that topic. If the student answers incorrectly, I go through their work with them and identify their mistake, we will go over the kind of mistake that they made, and how to fix it. If the student doesn't know where to start, that is okay, I can teach them the content in a way that is best for their learing style.
I use a similar process for other subjects as well by giving students problems to see where they're at and what we can work on
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Although I am still in high school, I am in the top of my class at a very competitive school. I am in rigorus courses, and have experience tutoring

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Come with an open mind and believe in yourself. You have to believe that you can get better in order to actually get better.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
what they did wrong. most of the time, if a student looks through their work, they can usually identify their mistake. This will help them to grow as a student.
