About
I've always believed that everyone is capable of solving any problem - it just depends on how you approach it! That's why I'm excited to help students improve their skill sets AND solve expand their learning methods.
Hello, my name is Nikhila and I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and my Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University this past year, where I graduated with University Honors and a 4.0 GPA for my masters. I've taken numerous classes in Math (up to Linear Algebra), Science (Biology and Physics are my strong suits), Statistics, Computer Science (experienced in tutoring basic to intermediate Python), and have experience preparing for AP exams. I'm available to teach all skill levels and all ages in any of these areas!
I've had expereince teaching my whole life, from teaching Tae Kwon Do when I was in High School to teaching Python (computer science) to students while I was in College. I've taught computer science to kids as young as 6, and am very comfortable with all ages. I've always found joy in working with others and sharing knowledge, and aim to keep an optimistic and fun atmosphere.
I've worked for various tech/medical device companies throughout the years using skills such as computer science, data science, machine learning, business analytics, wearable devices, and financial strategy. If the student has any areas of interest, I love trying to connect what we are learning to those fields.
I'm looking forward to using this summer to tutor again! Sessions will be taught virtually over Zoom. Please feel free to reach out for any inquiries:)

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
4 Steps: Introduction, Goals, Assessment, Outline
It's important to me to have a friendly relationship with the student so they feel comfortable, so I always begin by doing a short icebreaker. Next, I learn their goals and what they would love accomplish over the next 2 months. Then, I ask more questions to learn where their current skill levels are at, and even have them work through a few problems for me. Lastly, I outline a plan for tutoring over the next few weeks and we go over it together.
If the student is in High School or younger, I'm more than open to chatting with their parents as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've extensively studied Math, Physics, Biology, and Computer Science through my coursework from my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. I also have experience teaching computer science and taught Python for a year during my undergraduate degree. I've taught music my whole life, most recently to my A Cappella group in college!
