I work with individual students, families. or small groups, elementary and middle school-age, all subjects. I will customize the sessions to fit your needs. Many students need re-teaching or pre-teaching of topics. Often students come to me for help with homework completion. I am able to accomodate clients in-person or online for as often as needed. I work with students with a wide range of ability and learning styles! I greatly enjoy helping kids gain confidence, seeing their grades go up and how happy they become once they realize they can reach their goals!...

I have a generous amount of experience working with struggling students. I have adapted curriculum to fit the needs of each individual student. It is my goal to find which learning pattern works for each student. Every student can be successful when the student is clear what learning methods and styles work for him/her. I enjoy helping and supporting a student to find their way of learning material. I love when students start clicking with and understanding the material. ....

I grew up with a passion for reading books from my Mother. I grew up reading books by Dr. Seuss! I help students realize the value of being able to read, especially in the world we live in today. Reading is not a skill you will master overnite. However, if you commit to doing the work daily, you will see the results! Will you get frustrated at times? Yes! Will you feel like giving up? Yes, that is just part of the learning process. However, I tell all of my students: NEVER GIVE UP!!!!

Hello! I am a licensed special education teacher in the state of Wisconsin. My experience has been with all different ages and abilities. I have seven years of teaching experience in high school, one in middle school, and one in elementary school. In addition, I have tutored all ages in the areas of math, reading, and writing. For the past five years I have co-taught Algebra; however, reading is a passion of mine and I love working to facilitate that same passion in my students. My biggest character strength is the patience I have cultivated through working with students of varying abilities and needs. If one strategy doesn't work, I will tr...

What is special education tutoring?

Special education tutors help students with mild to severe cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities. Special needs tutors modify the general education curriculum to meet the child's individual needs and involve themselves in each student's social and behavioral development.

What is disability in special education?

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) identifies 13 disability categories where special education should be provided.

  • Auditory Impairment (AI) – refers to a hearing loss not categorized by deafness.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – mainly affects a child's social and communication skills and behavior.
  • Deafness – covers kids who can't hear most or all sounds, even with a hearing aid.
  • Deaf-Blindness (DB) – covers kids with both severe hearing and vision loss that requires unique programs.
  • Emotional Disturbance (ED) – various mental health issues such as anxiety disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and depression.
  • Intellectual Disability (ID) – covers disabilities such as below-average intellectual abilities, poor communication or social skills, and poor self care. One example is down syndrome.
  • Multiple Impairments (MI) – a child with multiple disabilities in this list.
  • Orthopedic Impairment (OI) – covers impairments in kids who lack function or ability in their bodies, such as cerebral palsy.
  • Other Health Impairment (OHI) – conditions that limit a child's strength, energy, or alertness such as ADHD.
  • Specific learning disability (SLD) – conditions such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, auditory processing disorder, or nonverbal learning disability.
  • Speech or Language Impairment (SI) – covers difficulties such as stuttering, pronouncing words, making sounds with the voice, or understanding words.
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) – injury to the brain caused by a physical force.
  • Visual Impairment / Blindness (VI) – covers both partial sight and blindness.

I love YOUnique Minds. Sign up process was very easy. Pleasant director, she answer all my questions. Tutoring has been going well. Tutor has been very patient. We have done virtual, face to face and group. She has been engaged and loved all of them. She looks forward to each class. I also love that one of her tutors sends me a report of what they did and where she should focus her time next session. Overall I am pleased.

Japjeev is the first tutor that my son went to, she was a catalyst in motivating him in becoming independent at "try first and then ask for help". She connected well with him and helped him with his after school homework assignments as well as critiquing his writings. I highly recommend her to 7th grade Math students who need help in their daily school assignments.
