Hello! My name is AnnaMae (Or just Mae!) Branscum. I'm currently a junior in high school- and I'm also working on my associates in science at Pierce College. I specialize in math, and when it comes to working with the kids I tutor, I try and make it humorous and fun- while teaching in ways they can remember. School isn't always easy, and the best way to scare a child away from learning is to associate it with an annoyed or unkind mentor.

I am a newly graduated college student working part-time right now as I look for opportunities to teach abroad in the next couple of years. I graduated with a bachelor’s of science in engineering, and was a tutor as well as tutored during my years at school so I have a good understanding of different effective teaching methods. I appreciate feedback to improve each learning experience.

I love to explore the "why" beyond the question itself, so if you're curious and eager to learn we'll get along well. I'm also aware that everyone learns in different ways and at different rates, so I make sure to be patient and try multiple approaches so we can see what works best. With the flexibility to assist with sciences, humanities, and test prep, as well as over a decade of experience tutoring, including as an in-class tutor for Algebra 2, I do my best to foster a love of learning and will work to develop your understanding of the curriculum and the world around you.

I am a running start student in Pierce College/Puyallup High School that has tutored elementary students, middle school students, and high schoolers + college students respectively. I've been mostly local for 2 years, but have decided to expand! I always welcome a challenge and can teach most subjects. I will strive to meet the goals of not just the parents, but the students themselves. I am readily available most of the time for questions, and will help whenever possible. I've had the opportunity to learn from teachers in the U.S., international students that fostered their methods abroad, and professors who are reputable in their fields. I'

I am a Data Science master’s graduate from Indiana University, having completed my degree in 2022. During my academic journey, I gained valuable experience as a teacher at Indiana University, where I honed my skills in conveying complex concepts to students. My situation was unique. I had serious epileptic seizures during high school resulting in multiple brain surgeries and a long, challenging recovery. Matt entered my life during this time; I still had assignments to complete before graduation and an impending SAT exam, so I met with Matt twice a week and learned the essential concepts of writing and reading comprehension. While math was my strong suit, Matt helped me identify some earlier math concepts that needed refreshing. My initial SAT score prior to my relationship with Matt was 1260, but, after tutoring, I received a 1510 and was accepted by my school of choice for pre-med studies. I continue to meet with Matt two or three times per week during my undergraduate studies for more advanced writing strategies. I cannot imagine a better academic mentor than I have found with Matt.

Sandie was so patient and made our lessons a lot of fun, as well as practical. I got to decide what we would be working on and even got to choose what some of my homework would be. She always found a way to make everything I did more interesting. I am now excelling in all of my classes, and my parents are really happy.
