I’m a certified teacher who has been working this school year as a sub teacher in Bremerton WA. I feel that experience helps me understand this age level currently. I haven’t been familiar with taking the SAT or ACT for years, but would be willing to brush up on it in order to assist you.

Hardy S. says, "What did I get out of the class? I feel the Grand County Center 4 Excellence has helped me and will continue to help me find better research tools for my studies. Larry really showed us to look at a problem and learn how to overcome them in a different way. A way he calls "problems are not problems just situations requiring a solution." A lot of the so called problems we were having though were with our research tools and the difficulty of sifting through all the info to find what you want . Though threw all the practice we had with it all having some time limit on them increased my skills on the internet. Not only did this class help in that area but it helped broaden my horizons. I went some where i would of probably never gone with out this class. I got to know the other students in the class increasingly as the trip went on as well. Our trip in Tacoma over all was about black history all the people we interviewed were historians of the black culture on Hilltop. I’ve enjoyed this class and plan to keep taking it." Read more

Oh my! I had almost finished this part of my profile and I left for 10 min and it was gone. I have been tutoring for over 22 years and I still love it. I have many specialties so I will put them on by bullet point for now, so I can get this done before it disappears again. • I tutor every subject taught in grades K-8 •I tutor everything except math and foreign languages in 9-12 grades. Emily B. says, "Kate immediately created a safe, welcoming space for my child. They especially love how she incorporates *fun* to break up the *work*. Making schoolwork feel fun and possible is no easy task. As a parent, I feel supported in my concerns, and excited that my kiddo looks forward to doing her homework with Kate. It’s felt right since the beginning and I’m so grateful for her tutoring!" Read more

Hi Miss Noel here. I am a preschool teacher and mother of 3 that loves getting kids passionate about school and reading. I love to be a support to all students, but especially students who may be struggling with something or who just need a little extra confidence to reach their full potential. I aim to make students hard work feel like fun and to have them grinning from ear to ear with pride after they have accomplished something new. Give me a try, let’s learn together and have some fun!!!

I have been a tutor for 13 years and currently on my way to a Ph.D. My BA is in Creative Arts, which is the study of what makes creativity and how can it be sparked. I've taken additional college classes every semester just to learn something new and build a stronger foundation of understanding as I plan to be a college professor one day. I intend to see where my client is and elevate them to meet their goals through any means at my disposal. I have taken college calculus, teacher preparation courses, and college physics as well as courses in all the humanities: English, Theater, Art, Art History and Humanities. You won't find a more well-rou

Hello! My name is Eva and I am a high school student looking to tutor younger kids (Elementary-Middle School) this summer and we prepare for the school year. I’m going into my senior year and have taken several high-level classes such as pre-calculus, AP Physics 1, and AP US History. I believe that learning is fueled by passion! I not only want to help your student master certain subjects, but I also want to teach how important the learning we do in school is for everyday life.

My situation was unique. I had serious epileptic seizures during high school resulting in multiple brain surgeries and a long, challenging recovery. Matt entered my life during this time; I still had assignments to complete before graduation and an impending SAT exam, so I met with Matt twice a week and learned the essential concepts of writing and reading comprehension. While math was my strong suit, Matt helped me identify some earlier math concepts that needed refreshing. My initial SAT score prior to my relationship with Matt was 1260, but, after tutoring, I received a 1510 and was accepted by my school of choice for pre-med studies. I continue to meet with Matt two or three times per week during my undergraduate studies for more advanced writing strategies. I cannot imagine a better academic mentor than I have found with Matt.

“For every five youngsters in the hill, four were dealers. Heaven knows how they got it, but they did.” -Harold Moss The war on Drugs is something widely known, but it the streets of Tacoma, it was like a whole new world. Having the chance to travel to someplace new, abundant with history was incredible. It opened my eyes to events that I would never dream of. Marijuana seems to be a very commonly used substance theses days, and many people make a big deal about it, but if you think smokin' reefer is bad, think about this. You're sitting in your apartment one afternoon when BOOM! The explosion sends you sprinting to see what happened. Later, on the evening news, you hear that the explosion was from a meth lab. The careless chemists over heated the chemicals. Meth and heroin seemed to be the most popular drugs an Tacoma in the 80's and 90's. The thought of 10-14 year olds selling, buying, and even using these substances is chilling. However, these horrific events seemed to turn the city of the Hilltop into a strong one.

Kate is a dedicated educator and I cannot recommend her highly enough! She has been tutoring my second grader in both reading and math for several months and her tailored approach has significantly improved his skills and confidence in each subject. Kate fosters a positive learning environment, making the sessions enjoyable for my son while still remaining focused on achieving academic progress. I am truly grateful for the impact she has made on my child’s education!
