Susan C. says, "I would give Joshua 10 stars out of 5. My son needed to learn what had not been taught in his AP Pre-Calc course, and in a ridiculously short time, Joshua explained the concepts with clarity and enthusiasm that made my son want to have him as a resource in future classes, if needed. He is an excellent teacher and person. I highly recommend him." Read more

I have 3+ years of experience in tutoring mathematics to GED students, primarily to incarcerated individuals. Many of these students felt forced to participate in education and didn't even want to learn... at first. My goal has always been to help math be as painless as possible. It's truly uplifting to see someone succeed at something they may not have believed they were capable of doing. Learning is all about finding the right approach and every student is completely different!

Hi - I love teaching students of any age who want to learn. I started my teaching at the college level but have been teaching in K-12 schools for almost 15 years.I am certified in special ed, math, science (all), and administration. When I am teaching a student, I am always thinking about how that student learns best. I’m not afraid of trying new things if it helps. You can expect me to bring lots of manipulatives and games if that helps you learn. Let me know if you would like to talk and discuss your child’s needs in more detail. I am teaching in a classroom right now so I can do some morning tutoring but some might need to be in the aftern

I graduated my highschool with an IB diploma and am now working towards a BS at OSU with a focus in pre-pharmacy which invlolves a lot of chemistry. I took standard level IB chem as my elective in highschool along with bio and math. I want to help people learn and understand the content so that it makes sense to them. I know that math and science can be difficult subjects but they don't have to be. My only tutoring experience at this point has been peers and siblings but I am patient and can work with many age groups.

Reviews for Corvallis math tutors

Recent success stories from people in the Corvallis area.
Ryan L.
Ever since I started my college career, I've felt a dissonance between my self and my feelings. It has always been a facet of myself that I can't quite grasp. I tell myself and others that I lack the vocabulary/emotional intelligence to understand what's going on inside. Maybe I've just been trying the wrong approach. I don't think there's a mindfulness textbook that defines the way that mindfulness should work (there might be though, and if there is that's cool), it's different for everyone. This exercise was really freeing in that it showed me that there is no one formula for mindfulness, that it can even come in the form of constructing Markov Decision Processes (MDPs) and running policy extraction, and that I shouldn't put as much pressure on myself to have this idealistic grasp on mindfulness. So thank you Josh and CS360 course staff for letting me learn a little more about MDPs and also about myself!
