Charlotte is a great teacher. She went above and beyond to make sure that I was reaching my goals. She is very efficient and understanding. I enjoy working with her. She also has a good personality and makes me laugh. I would recommend her to anyone I know. She will do a great job!

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Working with a new student can be a trying time. In the first session, I assess the students skills and level. This includes measuring their reading, writing, talking listening and test-taking skills. Also during this session, I will start exploring the students learning style so that I may effectively plan to cater to the student in each subsequent session. Finally, I take the time to get to know the student and build a connection with them, this creates trust with the student and allows us to make working together fun!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been working as a private tutor for the last five years. My students have excelled in topics such as Algebra, Geometry, Reading, SAT, ACT and PSAT. I graduated from Howard University with a B. S.  in Psychology. I also earned an English certification.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Base/Online Pricing:

For most classes, pricing is between 55 and 65 per hour.

For special projects, like editing and test preparation the prices are based on the project.

Time and travel rates are negotiated on a case by case basis.

How did you get started teaching?

I first started teaching leadership skills courses to students in middle school and high school.  I volunteered to do it, but I really enjoyed it. I have now switched to teaching English and Test Preparation classes and I absolutely love it!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with many students with the desire to learn and elevate their English. These students range in age from preschool students to adults. I have also worked students where English is their first language and second language. My students may live in The United States or abroad.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

My advice would be to stick with a teacher who has a similar personality and understands your learning style. There are many different personalities and ways to learn. Pick one that best suits you.
