About

Hey, I'm Lukas! I am a student at the University of Southern California studying aerospace engineering and I have been a tutor for the past six years. I've learned a lot and developed my teaching methods significantly throughout my tenure as a tutor, and with these methods, I've found great success (take a look at the reviews!). Teaching with high-quality instruction is the most important aspect of the job to me. Quality is both promised to students and should be expected.

This has been one of the easiest tutors I have worked with. My daughter needed help on her SAT, and we were able to schedule a lesson within a few days. We were connected with a great tutor, Aaryan, who we worked with for about two months. Communication was very straightforward, and everything was very easy from my end. It seems like it worked perfectly as well, as my daughter was able to increase her score by almost 300 points. Great experience, I’m glad we went with Focus.

I am currently a junior in college majoring in thermodynamics, and I have gone through at least 5 different tutors in the last year until I found Focus. They have been by far the best and I hope to continue this relationship for a long time.

    Frequently asked questions

    During our first session:

-The first step in our tutoring is to establish a trusting relationship with the student. In order to teach well, a student should be completely comfortable with their tutor.

-Next, it is crucial to identify exactly what the student struggles with. Our tutors will ask students as much as is needed to figure out areas that need improvement.

-The tutor will then create an outline on how lessons will be structured in order to meet the student's needs.

-Subsequent sessions will follow the outline until the student has reached a point where he or she no longer needs the help of the tutor.

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Southern California majoring in aerospace engineering. While my college career is still young, I graduated high school with highest honors, I was a National Merit recognized student (with a score of 1530 on the SAT), and I have been a part of programs hosted by Lockheed Martin and Thrive Scholars. With a 3.85 GPA, I am also on the Dean's List at my school.

Additionally, I have around six years of tutoring experience with many clients, some long-term and some shorter-term. Take a look at the reviews below!

We give all of our clients a price range in our quotes, however, we wait to confirm an exact price until we consult with the student or a parent. We try to meet our students halfway so that they are given a fair, reasonable price.

Many students can relate to feeling a disconnect between themselves and a teacher. This would make sense, as teachers have to teach 15-30 students at the same time, so he or she cannot focus on an individual student's needs. In addition, many teachers fail to see that struggling students are not bad students, but rather that they might learn differently than other students. While trying to find a teacher, try to find one that has both expertise and compatibility with you.

A student's main priority should be understanding a concept in a way that they can apply it. Students should always go to a teacher or a trusted source if they do not truly comprehend something.
