I started tutoring Algebra over the phone when I was in junior high, and I kept tutoring math through high school. My first job after college was as a high school math teacher and learning center math tutor. I have since taught art and worked in education more broadly. I also am an education researcher and am writing about mathematical processes. I love helping others find that appreciation for their own way of thinking, their own way of learning, that makes the most sense for them. Hi. My name is Deena. I was a certified licensed mental health counselor for 10 years and then became an elementary school teacher for the last almost 20 years. I was certified in Special Education (K-12) and Elementary Education (K-6). I wrote and implemented IEPs, conducted small group lessons in Reading and Math, and developed lesson plans to meet my students' individual needs and strengths.
